Biographical Information

John Urquhart served as an infantry officer from 1962-1981. He commanded companies in both The Gordon Highlanders and 2nd Goorkhas and attended the Army Staff College at Camberley.

His experience as an Instructor at The School of Infantry and as Brigade Major of an Airportable Brigade gave him a deep insight into the practical realities of soldiering.

He spent the next 21 years in business, during the last 5 of which he studied for a degree in History, obtaining First Class Honours.

Military history has always been a major interest and he now indulges his passion for the subject by writing, lecturing and lng battlefield tours, as well as researching further campaigns.
